Please note:
As of May 2023, I have decided to take a break from painting Easter eggs for the community. For the next few years I want to focus on my other projects and finish them up.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Original statement:
The idea behind the Easter eggs was born out of my interest to have a small art project that I could share with the public and that had a small element of surprise in it. In the fall of 2013, I mentioned this interest to my best friend Yancey Larochelle-Williams and we came up with the Easter holiday that I enjoy. As the saying goes "and the rest is history".
The annual Easter egg rules are simple:
1) I consider this a public event in public space. Therefore, everyone is welcome to look for the Easter eggs and whoever finds the eggs first is the proud owner.
2) This is an event in public space. Please be respectful to the public spaces you will hunt in. All eggs are hidden in such a manner that an average child can reach for them and pick them up. They are never hidden inside bushes or flower beds, therefore there is no reason to trample through them.
3) The locations for the annual event will be announced on my Instagram page for easy public access.

My Guinness Book of Records idea submission, and its rejection.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, someone had suggested I submit my annual Easter egg event to the Guinness Book of Records. After some carful consideration, I decided to submit the idea of "Hand-painted wooden eggs given away to the public". Once the Guinness Book of Records actually properly read the submission (taking 2 tries), they confirmed my hobby is rather unique. Unfortunately, since they (rightfully) assumed no one would ever even try to beat this idea, they did not wish to include this in their Book of Records.
As you can see, this did not stop me from continuing my hobby.
